national park.

Tav and I were very lucky to get our first 'day off' from being parents this Easter with Marley happily spending the day with his Grandma so we could go off exploring. We found ourselves on this walking track in National Park which was once a horse track many years ago. Starting with red tussock grass and small patches of manuka, we then walked into alpine shrub, exposed lava flows and glades full of native birds. Around the bend we came across this magnificent waterfall tumbling 20 metres over the edge of a large lava flow which erupted from Mt Ruapehu 15,000 years ago. The Taranaki Falls plunge into a boulder-ringed pool from which the views are spectacular, tickling the photography enthusiast inside of us. Looking at these photos now I can almost feel the light spray of water upon my face and a sense of Mother Nature's healing power. I hope you all had a fabulous Easter too! x
