I've never been more pleased to see the arrival of grey clouds rolling in from the horizon. We haven't had rain here for over a month, our worst drought in history. Although this was great for obvious reasons, it's also sad to see the green slowly dissappear from the hillsides. My poor plants were looking weary, the soil crumbly and dry from the outdoor water ban. Then we were blessed with the most beautiful sound of pitter patter. Marley stood at his usual spot to watch the world from the window, and he consciously processed this natural phenomenon of water falling from the sky. He looked quite pleased with this realisation, as water is one of his favourite things.
The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sun-burned hands I used to hold
